Biography

E. B. "TED" DITTMER II

E. B. Dittmer II is a senior partner in the firm and focuses his practice primarily in the areas of real estate, trust and estates, and transactional matters, including business, corporate and general civil litigation.

He is an agent for First American Title Insurance Company, and has represented both borrowers and lenders in residential and commercial transactions for 30 years. He currently represents clients in matters arising from contractual and various other business relationships.

Mr. Dittmer successfully litigated a statewide gas purchase contract dispute against a major American gas producer, which was settled after favorable trial court judgment for $23,000,000. Mr. Dittmer also has experience in environmental matters and mass tort class actions, having represented industry clients in both federal and state court actions, including the 1995 railroad tankcar explosion in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

Mr. Dittmer earned his B.A (1971) from Louisiana State University and his J. D. (1974) from Louisiana State University Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review. Upon graduation from law school, he served as law clerk to Justice Albert Tate of the Louisiana Supreme Court and later as law clerk to Judge Wallace A. Edwards of the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal.

After practicing in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1975 and 1976, he joined Talley, Anthony, Hughes and Knight in 1977, and has been a partner in the firm since 1980. Mr. Dittmer was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1974. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the State of Louisiana, Western, Middle and Eastern Districts.

He is a member of the Louisiana State and Washington and St. Tammany Parish Bar Associations and the Inns of Court. Mr. Dittmer has served as President of the Washington Parish Bar Association, the Bogalusa Economic Development Corporation, and the Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce. He has also been appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as Judge Pro-Tempore of the Bogalusa City.
