Biography
GARY L. HANESGary Hanes has been an attorney for over 20 years, specializing in the field of legal research and writing, with a particular emphasis in state & federal litigation practice.
He was a judicial law clerk for state district court for over six years, where he became knowledgeable in the full range of civil and criminal law. Since his clerkship, Mr. Hanes’ primary emphasis has been in medical malpractice defense, general casualty, and employment law.
He has a great deal of experience in appellate work, having overseen cases and tendered successful briefs before all five of Louisiana’s courts of appeal, the Louisiana Supreme Court, and the federal Fifth Circuit.
Mr. Hanes graduated from Mandeville High School in 1974. He received a B.A. degree (magna cum laude) in History from Harding University, in Searcy, Arkansas, in 1978, and a J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1984. He has been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 1984 and has also been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Hanes served as a law clerk for Judges James R. Strain, Jr. and Martin E. Coady of the 22nd Judicial District Court, encompassing St. Tammany and Washington Parishes, between 1985 and 1991.
Since that time, he was worked for law firms on both sides of Lake Pontchartrain, and has been with TAHK since 2004.
